Rain-drenched Poppy images... Spring 2011

purple poppy
This poppy (am pretty sure that's what it was) caught the eye of everyone who passed by it. This and the next image are from the macro workshop at Green Spring Gardens in Virginia... it is going to be quite awhile before I stop posting images from the workshops I've been taking lately!

I have no idea what this tiny insect is... but it is the master (mistress?) of all he (she?) surveys while standing tall in the center of this poppy.

I'll be posting this to Macro Monday over at Lisa's Chaos... come join the fun!

  1. The details in the second image are fantastic Victoria. The center looks like pink sugar sprinkles!

  7. That is one very gorgeous poppy and your first shot of it is just wonderful. But wow, the second photo? Absolutely stunning macro shot Victoria, the center of the poppy and that little fly are in perfect focus and the background softness just makes it pop even more. Amazing.

How intresting to see your family history:) If you go by car from Sthlm I would recomend taking some stop to see the High coast on your way, places like "Norrfällsviken" and "Bönhamn" are really beautiful. 14. This poppy is one beautiful specimen! What a color! How did you get it so sharp? Even the tiny little hairs on the sepals are razor sharp. Do you have the power to stop the wind?

The second shot is spectacular as well!
