Flora of Sweden from June, 2011...

wild geranium with bumblebee
Some plants we saw in Sweden I'd never seen before... but Wild Geranium grows in my own garden so this one was easily recognizable. The busy bee was a bonus.

tiny plants growing in the forest
Images of tiny mosses, lichens and succulents growing on the forest floor, seen while hiking near Vägsele, Sweden with cousins Sture and Inger.

I'll be posting this to Macro Monday over at Lisa's Chaos... stop by and check out the other entries.

  1. Great set of photos! I think if I had the chance to see another country like that I would bring back several thousand photos. It would be so fascinating to see what plants they have!

  2. I´m hoping, after seeing your bee, that mine on my post today is also a bee! It was hard to tell but it did look different from the hoverflies. See, you really CAN teach an old dog new tricks. :)

Don´t you love those ground covers! Delightful.

  5. your shot of the silt geranium glooms is so pretty....that kind of shot i would love hanging on my wall to look at each morning as i was awakening for the day. the bee in the center is just an added plus to the shot. your collage of the lichens and mosses is stunning. my husband are both hikers so we are familiar with the treasures which are hiding down on the forrest flow. hope you have a nice week. genie

  8. Love the moss photos! As for the Geranium, I think it is always neat to find familar plants in unfamilar places.

  9. That last image is a pretty montage that gives a good sense of how "busy" the forest floor is. The close looks reveal a world thriving at a smaller scale than ours.
